VisionQuest
Theater presents Joseph Ferron Hiatt's The Devil and Ben Jones Thursday
through Sunday at 8pm October 18 to November 3, 2002 at Dad's Garage
Theatre's Top Shelf.
Disturbing
and funny, tender and wicked, Joseph Ferron Hiatt's new comedy The
Devil and Ben Jones follows young Ben on his search for a place
in his strange, cruel world.
The
weird story is filled with sharp dialogue, chicken, bones, and pits.
Follow Ben, a chicken-boned boy looking for love and acceptance,
as he tries to make sense of his surreal reality. His deflatable
friend Pug picks on him and flirts with his crazy mother, Miss Jones,
who buries chicken carcasses, yells at flies, and makes poor Ben
sleep in the basement, on the other side of the pit. The Devil tempts
him from the shadows. This play creates a deep and fascinating world.
It will wrap your mind around your head and make you want to see
it again. It will grab your heart and possibly let go of it the
next morning.
Director
Jim Davies creates a paranoid backwoods world filled with pits and
deformed trees that will creep you, make your bones twitch, and
your skin prickle.
