Matthew Myers was born in Warner Robins, GA, the son of a sheet metal mechanic and an aircraft warehouse manager

. He performed in his first play in 3rd grade, playing one of Santa's elves. He became interested in theatre when he began watching professional wrestling at live events and on television. Eventually accepting that he would never be big enough to actually wrestle, he started taking acting classes in high school. After high school, he couldn't think of anything that he wanted to go to college for besides theatre, so he enrolled at Pensacola Junior College. Finding it difficult to get cast in productions, Matt joined together with other would be actors and created Periwig Performance Group. The Periwigs set out to produce original work and give the boundaries a gentle nudge, which they did for over a year and a half, until they disbanded. Matt began to develop an appreciation for playwriting as well as performance. Matt went on to attend the University of West Florida and received a Bachelor's degree in theatre.

In 1999, he moved to Atlanta, GA. Since moving, he has worked with the Georgia Shakespeare Festival, Dad's Garage, First Stage Atlanta, and other local favorites. He is also a co-founder of Trial By Fire Productions (with Andrew Sweeney) and is currently wrapping up production on Groping for Luna, a feature film written by and starring Matthew. He lives in Marietta with his wife Anna-Claire and his two dogs.

Matt started out at boarding school as a bit of an entrepreneur. Amongst his many ‘scams’ was a scheme to nick all the brass nameplates and sell them off for scrap metal!  Needless to say this scheme was nipped in the bud and Matt ended up leaving College some years later as a ‘model citizen’ with a National diploma in technical illustration.

Matt took an early interest in music and started playing guitar. Using his practical technical design skills, Matt also ventured to start making his own guitars. After 3 years of experimentation he finally produced the highly successful ‘Wildcat’ guitar, which received rave reviews in the Guitar Magazines and was exhibited at the Frankfurt Music Fair.

It was around this time that Matt joined forces with Graham Butler and other friends to form the rock band, “Heavy Desert Pheasant”, who recorded and performed live in pubs and clubs in and around Croydon. Matt wrote most of the guitar riffs in the band, which earnt him the nickname “Matt the Mayhem Riff Master Myers”.

As a mature student Matt decided to go to Brunel University to study Mechanical Engineering and he graduated in 1999 with Hons as a Bachelor of Engineering. Matt currently works as a Computer Aided Design Engineer.

In the autumn of 2000 Matt was recruited for his technical abilities to work on the set for December 2000’s production of  the ‘Alternative Panto’, “Varney the Vampire”.

This interest in theatre then lead to Matt’s highly successful, first foray into acting, as the rather sleazy Vicar, Mr Weatherhill in “Lucky Sods” by John Godber, the debut production by EXIT Theatre Co-op at the Braithwaite Hall in September 2001.

Matt then went on to appear as Bill, the Camerman in the Group's acclaimed "Popcorn",  where he actually filmed part of the show (in his underpants!), which featured as a live feed on to a video screen, whilst he was on stage acting - no mean feat!

He worked as set designer for EXIT’s further productions in 2002 and appeared again on stage in March 2003’s “Vox Dei” as The High Judiciary, complete with a suitable poker face and a very silly hat! As well as appearing as a Shocktrouper, who ended up getting killed 3 times during the course of the play!
